Reference to the letter of the Federation of Saudi Chambers No. (44103767) dated (05/09/1444 AH) which indicates that the Federation received the letter of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority No. (21615/p) dated (30/08/1444 AH) (attached) referring to the letter received from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture No. (210813/1054/1442) dated (09/04/1442 AH) corresponding to (24/11/2020 AD) The Ministry requested the withdrawal of samples of marine products imported through border crossings, and after the withdrawal of samples and the emergence of positive results for the White Spot Syndrome Virus in frozen shrimp products imported from the Republic of India.
Therefore, wewould like to inform you of the issuance of the Authority's decision No. (20576/s) dated (22/08/1444 AH) to impose a temporary ban on the import of shrimp from the Republic of India until the Indian side provides sufficient guarantees to ensure the safety of those products exported to the Kingdom and to ensure that the white spot syndrome virus is not transmitted to the fish wealth in the Kingdom.
